Club History

The charter application of the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside
was completed on May 20, 1926. First president was
William D. Nietfeld. The secretary was Harry D. Brodie.

There were 39 members listed on the charter application
with the Kiwanis Club of Escondido being the sponsoring
organization. Oceanside's population at the time was
just over 3,500 and there were only a few buildings on
Hill Street and practically none on the east side.

There was only one other known service club (ROTARY)
in Oceanside at the time.
